IDEX-1000 – An advanced detector for safe,
non-invasive Raman based detections worldwide

The IDEX-1000 can test  unknown substances through plastic bags,  bottles and other containers without the need to open or sub-sample the container.

• The IDEX-1000 is a rugged solid state instrument employing multiple patented technologies permitting significantly faster detection coincident with much higher sensitivity and resolution,

• This portable Raman based system is extremely easy to use, and ID Detection Systems offers on-site training for new users,

• The all important library can be easily expanded and customized to meet user needs, and

• The IDEX-1000 has been proven to provide the user with superior sensitivity and compound resolution without compromising speed, which is absolutely vital at security check points, and essential for law enforcement and military applications

The IDEX Field-1000
The IDEX Field-1000 is the newest detector released by ID Detection Systems. As powerful and accurate as the original, the Field-1000 is a true handheld unit. A rechargable battery is included for two hours of continuous operations.

ID Detection Systems’ IDEX-1000 is based on novel cutting edge advances to Raman based technologies.

HOW IT WORKS:
Raman analysis involves illuminating an unknown substance with a monochromatic light source (a laser) and measuring the reflected light. The molecular structure of every substance causes the light to be scattered differently. When a substance‘s scattering spectrum is recorded within a digital library, the spectrum of an unknown substance is compared to all of the library spectra and when a match is made, the substance’s identity is confirmed. Raman technology is non-intrusive and non-destructive.

IDEX-1000 & IDEX Field-1000:
• A rugged, portable and highly sensitive Raman based detector
• Specifically developed for use within the law enforcement, intelligence, military and security   communities
• Easy to use instrument offers superior resolution, sensitivity and detection speed

Raman spectroscopy offers numerous distinct advantages over other types of spectroscopic detection techniques, including infrared adsorption and fluorescence. These include:

• Chemical specificity: can distinguish between nitroamine high explosives (RDX) and HMX  (cyclotetramethylene tetranitroamine),
• No sample prep is required,

• Raman is unaffected by strong infrared absorbers like water, CO2 and glass,
• When examining mixtures, spatial resolutions are greater with Raman than those obtained with infrared or fluorescence because shorter wavelengths of light are used for excitation, and
• The shorter wavelength enables penetration and detection of substances present within colored glass or plastic containers.
